Return of the Obra Dinn Wiki

Unholy Captives, part 2 is the second part of chapter V in the plot of Return of the Obra Dinn. It reveals the fate of cook Thomas Sefton.

As four crewmen carry a mermaid on a net stretcher down the stairs, Sefton, observing this, jokingly asks the crewmen to hand the mermaids over to him so he could prepare a meal out of them. He notices a shell that the mermaid is holding and closes in to examine it. Despite a crewman warning Sefton to get back, the mermaid strikes Sefton with its tail, killing him.

Shortly after witnessing this, Fillip Dahl, Captain Witterel's steward, runs off to grab a cutlass.

On the main deck, the officers are discussing while surgeon Henry Evans inspects the spike that hit Diom and Tan. On the port side, some crewmen were hauling the chest back to the ship.

When playing a new game, the pocketwatch starts shaking after viewing this diorama, allowing access to Unholy Captives, part 1.

Things of interest

Sefton death

Cook Thomas Sefton is hit by the beast's tail.

  • The identity of cook Thomas Sefton can be deduced as he makes a reference to frying a meal. He is also holding the same two-pronged fork he has in Murder, part 2 and butcher he often appears together with can be identified earlier.
  • Captain's steward Fillip Dahl is running away from the action, possibly trying to get a weapon (which he will use against seaman John Naples in the cargo hold in Unholy Captives, part 4).[speculation]

Where

This memory is accessible via a body by the bow staircase on the gun deck.
