The Doom, part 4 is the fourth part of chapter VII in the plot of Return of the Obra Dinn. It reveals the fates of gunner Christian Wolff and (although not present in the diorama) seaman George Shirley.
Immediately after the Kraken crushes Akbar, the Kraken grabs Wolff and presses him against the muzzle. As he, with the help of Shirley, attempts in vain to break free, the cannon goes off and kills the two men. The recoil breaks another cannon loose, detaching the barrel from its carriage.
Things of interestEdit
- Nobody's identity can be deduced based on this part alone.
- Seaman George Shirley's body is not present in the diorama despite being one of the two casualties. The implication is that he was blasted out of the nearby porthole.
- The diorama shows how the cannon that will later crush Roderick Andersen got loose (i.e. was struck through a wall by the cannon that fires in this diorama).
This memory is accessed via a body on the port side of the gun deck, near the bosun's mate's room where there is rupture on the hull.
Only the middle part of the gun deck is accessible. The exit is next to the stewards' room.
