Return of the Obra Dinn: A Catalogue of Adventure and Tragedy is a book provided to the HEIC chief inspector by Henry Evans for purposes of recording and organizing information on the fates and identities of those aboard the Obra Dinn. It begins with a preface by Evans addressed to the inspector, which explains her or his mission. It also includes a map of the planned route, a labelled map of the ship, the crew manifest, three sketches by Edward Spratt, and a glossary of nautical terms. The rest of the book is a list of the deaths and disappearances of everyone aboard, in chronological order and organized into ten chapters.
